Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 4.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 14.59% or 129.2 points to trade at 1015.0 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 13.39% or 35.00 points to end at 296.40 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 11.61% or 166.4 points to 1600.2 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 2.61% or 51.00 points to trade at 1903.50 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 0.40% or 2.00 points to end at 500.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) gained 0.13% or 3.0 points to 2290.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1729 to 498 and 111 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.35% or 23.70 to $1732.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 8.40% or 2.48 to hit $32.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 8.31% or 2.70 to trade at $35.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.76% to 1.2196, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8959.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.82% at 99.608.
