Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 9.66% or 33.70 points to trade at 382.60 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 8.43% or 17.00 points to end at 218.70 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 6.95% or 42.00 points to 646.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.69% or 86.50 points to trade at 1206.50 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 2.26% or 12.20 points to end at 527.20 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 2.18% or 50.00 points to 2247.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1518 to 709 and 129 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 4.16% or 84.55 to $1945.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.29% or 0.12 to hit $42.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $44.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.13% to 1.3087, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8989.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.483.
