Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Banking and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.55% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 11.26% or 16.04 points to trade at 158.52 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 10.41% or 24.10 points to end at 255.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 9.24% or 51.40 points to 607.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.27% or 122.00 points to trade at 1556.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 4.50% or 40.20 points to end at 852.60 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 3.69% or 53.00 points to 1383.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1381 to 663 and 387 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.84% or 15.10 to $1815.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.49% or 1.13 to hit $77.21 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 1.18 to trade at $80.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.47% to 1.3534, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.8344.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.235.
