Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 9.59% or 121.8 points to trade at 1392.0 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 6.90% or 9.04 points to end at 139.98 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 6.63% or 14.20 points to 228.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 2.71% or 45.50 points to trade at 1636.50 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 1.67% or 12.00 points to end at 708.00 and Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) shed 1.03% or 41.0 points to 3940.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1483 to 492 and 471 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.42% or 7.50 to $1787.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.10% or 2.81 to hit $71.42 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.68% or 2.63 to trade at $74.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.34% to 1.3252, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8504.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.560.
