Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 13.31% or 62.80 points to trade at 534.60 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 9.61% or 115.9 points to end at 1321.4 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 7.54% or 19.10 points to 272.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 6.39% or 388.0 points to trade at 5684.0 in late trade. Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) declined 5.12% or 590.0 points to end at 10925.0 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 4.79% or 137.2 points to 2724.8.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1326 to 975 and 65 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.88% or 34.50 to $1803.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.55% or 1.96 to hit $45.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.91% or 1.80 to trade at $47.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.3352, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8896.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 92.267.
