Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.26% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE), which rose 9.49% or 758.0 points to trade at 8748.0 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) added 5.71% or 100.40 points to end at 1857.40 and MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) was up 5.41% or 1.56 points to 30.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 5.32% or 27.22 points to trade at 484.18 in late trade. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) declined 2.70% or 13.12 points to end at 472.08 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) shed 2.78% or 136.0 points to 4753.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1241 to 1052 and 77 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.62% or 11.20 to $1830.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.77% or 0.79 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 0.72 to trade at $48.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.59% to 1.3337, while EUR/GBP rose 0.75% to 0.9062.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 91.207.
