Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 3.76% or 2.98 points to trade at 82.30 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.05% or 7.30 points to end at 246.90 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 2.99% or 4.54 points to 156.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.28% or 37.60 points to trade at 561.00 in late trade. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 4.78% or 143.00 points to end at 2846.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 2.47% or 28.50 points to 1126.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1334 to 791 and 214 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.85 to $1462.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.72% or 0.42 to hit $58.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.34 to trade at $63.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.64% to 1.2831, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 98.160.
