Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT), which rose 7.19% or 17.10 points to trade at 255.00 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 6.67% or 55.4 points to end at 885.8 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 6.10% or 42.40 points to 737.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which lost 3.89% or 31.00 points to trade at 766.00 in late trade. Next PLC (LON:NXT) declined 3.28% or 150.0 points to end at 4422.0 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) shed 2.54% or 148.0 points to 5670.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1364 to 790 and 149 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.97% or 16.80 to $1757.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 6.53% or 1.80 to hit $29.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 4.02% or 1.25 to trade at $32.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.85% to 1.2122, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 100.480.
