Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Travel & Leisure and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 4.61% or 53.00 points to trade at 1204.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 4.10% or 30.60 points to end at 777.40 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.95% or 35.00 points to 922.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 1.75% or 11.60 points to trade at 652.00 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 1.17% or 16.50 points to end at 1399.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) shed 0.49% or 3.40 points to 695.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1551 to 645 and 178 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 11.45 to $1512.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.13% or 1.17 to hit $55.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.67% or 0.98 to trade at $59.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.2141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.9137.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 98.135.
