Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Engineering and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.92% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 6.51% or 160.00 points to trade at 2619.00 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) added 4.61% or 8.85 points to end at 200.80 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 4.21% or 8.30 points to 205.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.81% or 21.40 points to trade at 539.60 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 1.21% or 20.40 points to end at 1669.60 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 0.47% or 10.00 points to 2099.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1354 to 806 and 195 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.51% or 7.45 to $1463.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.17% or 0.10 to hit $57.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.15 to trade at $62.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.2893, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 98.250.
