Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 5.09% or 6.10 points to trade at 125.90 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.44% or 24.00 points to end at 565.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) was up 4.43% or 27.00 points to 636.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 12.06% or 42.50 points to trade at 310.00 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 1.64% or 16.60 points to end at 993.40 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 0.88% or 4.00 points to 451.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1126 to 653 and 736 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.90% or 21.20 to $2,368.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.26% or 0.21 to hit $80.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.29 to trade at $85.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 105.25.
