Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which rose 4.60% or 23.40 points to trade at 532.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 4.11% or 4.85 points to end at 122.85 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) was up 4.02% or 27.30 points to 705.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which lost 4.32% or 1.42 points to trade at 31.48 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.00% or 8.70 points to end at 427.40 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) shed 1.84% or 27.4 points to 1459.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1363 to 886 and 201 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.07% or 1.15 to $1730.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.12% or 0.73 to hit $64.66 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.61 to trade at $68.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.03% to 1.3897, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 91.862.
