Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Travel & Leisure and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 6.90% or 52.60 points to trade at 815.40 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 6.42% or 80.0 points to end at 1327.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 5.74% or 8.75 points to 161.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 5.82% or 32.00 points to trade at 518.20 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.92% or 46.00 points to end at 1530.50 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.06% or 315.0 points to 14970.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1305 to 990 and 89 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.33% or 6.15 to $1848.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $52.76 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.47 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.36% to 1.3685, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.8873.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 90.278.
