Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.76% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 5.95% or 8.05 points to trade at 143.25 at the close. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) added 5.81% or 318.0 points to end at 5789.0 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) was up 4.37% or 138.0 points to 3293.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 4.01% or 37.00 points to trade at 886.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.94% or 43.50 points to end at 1437.50 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) shed 1.95% or 11.20 points to 562.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1156 to 810 and 462 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.83% or 15.05 to $1791.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.24% or 1.04 to hit $84.80 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.54 to trade at $85.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.3763, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8419.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 94.002.
