Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Metals & Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.70% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 3.91% or 99.0 points to trade at 2630.0 at the close. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.25% or 8.70 points to end at 276.80 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 2.74% or 60.00 points to 2250.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.44% or 34.60 points to trade at 970.40 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 1.05% or 3.25 points to end at 306.20 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 1.03% or 2.40 points to 230.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1220 to 820 and 331 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 4.15 to $1321.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.77% or 0.95 to hit $54.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.28 to trade at $62.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.06% to 1.3092, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8761.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.238.
