Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 14.26% or 27.85 points to trade at 223.20 at the close. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) added 3.56% or 0.87 points to end at 25.31 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.54% or 66.6 points to 1950.4 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 4.22% or 22.60 points to trade at 512.60 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.72% or 4.00 points to end at 103.50 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 3.17% or 78.00 points to 2382.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1271 to 916 and 185 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.89% or 35.85 to $1930.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.29% or 0.53 to hit $40.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.51 to trade at $42.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.77% to 1.3033, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.9073.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 93.082.
