Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 7.58% or 37.10 points to trade at 526.60 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 3.61% or 195.00 points to end at 5,595.00 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) was up 3.00% or 121.00 points to 4,149.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 8.06% or 30.50 points to trade at 347.90 in late trade. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) declined 5.58% or 39.00 points to end at 660.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) shed 3.70% or 9.20 points to 239.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 966 to 839 and 649 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.68% or 43.30 to $2,613.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.78% or 1.86 to hit $68.78 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.70% or 1.92 to trade at $72.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 106.25.
