Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 24.70% or 38.70 points to trade at 195.35 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 10.26% or 10.00 points to end at 107.50 and Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) was up 5.97% or 17.60 points to 312.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 4.63% or 73.50 points to trade at 1514.50 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 3.33% or 10.30 points to end at 298.90 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) shed 2.61% or 44.00 points to 1639.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1391 to 795 and 178 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.18% or 3.45 to $1887.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.25% or 1.30 to hit $41.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.29% or 1.38 to trade at $43.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.15% to 1.2937, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.9085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 93.662.
