Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 9.84% or 43.60 points to trade at 486.60 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) added 2.73% or 28.50 points to end at 1,071.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.72% or 13.80 points to 520.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which lost 2.67% or 1.54 points to trade at 56.12 in late trade. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) declined 1.64% or 54.00 points to end at 3,239.00 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) shed 1.47% or 52.00 points to 3,493.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 977 to 840 and 653 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.90 to $2,753.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 5.73% or 4.11 to hit $67.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.66% or 4.28 to trade at $71.35 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.14.
