Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which rose 2.91% or 36.00 points to trade at 1,273.50 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) added 2.37% or 9.30 points to end at 401.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 2.25% or 17.20 points to 780.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 4.97% or 10.20 points to trade at 195.20 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.54% or 18.40 points to end at 501.60 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) shed 3.50% or 78.00 points to 2,150.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1095 to 744 and 631 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.00% or 26.60 to $2,686.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.11% or 2.80 to hit $70.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.79% or 2.72 to trade at $74.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.68% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 100.98.
