Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 2.82% or 47.20 points to trade at 1721.60 at the close. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) added 2.41% or 4.40 points to end at 186.90 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 2.10% or 46.00 points to 2231.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 4.16% or 113.00 points to trade at 2604.00 in late trade. The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) declined 2.17% or 80.00 points to end at 3612.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 1.80% or 17.30 points to 942.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1102 to 887 and 317 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.80 to $1258.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.38% or 1.02 to hit $73.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.11 to trade at $78.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.02% to 1.3224, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8842.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.11.
