Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Insurance and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which rose 4.72% or 23.30 points to trade at 516.80 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 3.19% or 21.60 points to end at 699.20 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) was up 2.77% or 37.8 points to 1400.2 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 2.64% or 43.00 points to trade at 1588.00 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 1.71% or 7.40 points to end at 425.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 1.62% or 3.20 points to 194.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1195 to 1007 and 219 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.30% or 5.35 to $1777.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.70% or 0.51 to hit $72.61 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.27 to trade at $74.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.3921, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8554.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 91.953.
