Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Life Insurance/Assurance and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 10.86% or 42.70 points to trade at 435.80 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 7.98% or 8.04 points to end at 108.80 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 7.67% or 16.30 points to 228.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 4.08% or 31.00 points to trade at 728.20 in late trade. Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) declined 3.13% or 65.00 points to end at 2,015.00 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 2.84% or 63.00 points to 2,157.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 996 to 818 and 427 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 3.65 to $1,673.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.23% or 1.95 to hit $89.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.17% or 2.01 to trade at $94.46 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.94% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP fell 1.18% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.78% at 112.34.
