Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Transportation and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.35% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.09% or 82.00 points to trade at 2,736.00 at the close. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) added 2.91% or 3.40 points to end at 120.20 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.28% or 7.90 points to 353.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which lost 5.18% or 154.00 points to trade at 2,820.00 in late trade. HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) declined 1.86% or 13.10 points to end at 690.90 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) shed 1.62% or 9.80 points to 595.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 966 to 631 and 862 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.67% or 15.50 to $2,337.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.19% or 0.15 to hit $79.14 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.12 to trade at $83.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 105.22.
