Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Travel & Leisure and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.32% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 9.43% or 146.2 points to trade at 1696.0 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 6.25% or 14.70 points to end at 249.98 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 6.16% or 38.20 points to 658.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which lost 3.31% or 320.0 points to trade at 9348.0 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.10% or 55.00 points to end at 1717.50 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 1.95% or 55.0 points to 2768.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1255 to 1103 and 75 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.06% or 18.95 to $1812.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.02% or 2.38 to hit $81.19 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.58% or 2.08 to trade at $82.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.3478, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 94.323.
