Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.01% or 90.0 points to trade at 3084.0 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 2.42% or 34.50 points to end at 1462.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.29% or 7.45 points to 332.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which lost 2.94% or 9.40 points to trade at 310.40 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 1.40% or 29.00 points to end at 2038.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 1.12% or 3.60 points to 316.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1152 to 763 and 507 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.22% or 21.95 to $1817.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.93% or 1.30 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.97% or 1.38 to trade at $71.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.3766, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8564.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 92.718.
