Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 9.27% or 82.2 points to trade at 969.0 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 8.64% or 16.05 points to end at 201.70 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 8.19% or 26.40 points to 348.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 4.24% or 79.00 points to trade at 1786.00 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 4.01% or 96.00 points to end at 2297.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.96% or 355.0 points to 11650.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1256 to 923 and 139 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.66% or 13.30 to $2031.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.18% or 0.90 to hit $42.12 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 0.69 to trade at $45.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.27% to 1.3086, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8982.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 93.487.
