Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 3.52% or 62.50 points to trade at 1840.00 at the close. Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) added 3.49% or 36.00 points to end at 1068.50 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 3.12% or 69.00 points to 2280.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which lost 4.55% or 301.00 points to trade at 6310.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.02% or 27.00 points to end at 868.20 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 2.76% or 174.00 points to 6126.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1105 to 1099 and 98 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 6.50 to $1226.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.57% or 0.38 to hit $66.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.79 to trade at $76.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.48% to 1.2731, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8928.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 96.61.
