Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which rose 5.89% or 127.00 points to trade at 2283.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 3.98% or 525.0 points to end at 13715.0 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 3.86% or 192.0 points to 5166.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 1.95% or 1.04 points to trade at 52.38 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 1.90% or 3.30 points to end at 170.05 and Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) shed 1.90% or 28.50 points to 1472.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1162 to 1025 and 252 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 5.35 to $1893.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.64% or 0.44 to hit $69.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.30 to trade at $71.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.22% to 1.4147, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 90.082.
