Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Aerospace & Defense and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.60% or 39.50 points to trade at 1136.50 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 3.55% or 15.00 points to end at 437.30 and Avast PLC (LON:AVST) was up 2.98% or 13.70 points to 473.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 13.18% or 89.60 points to trade at 590.20 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 4.91% or 4.71 points to end at 91.31 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 4.49% or 5.75 points to 122.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1298 to 955 and 68 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 10.70 to $1872.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $41.87 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.15 to trade at $44.35 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.16% to 1.3282, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 92.347.
