Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 2.45% or 11.20 points to trade at 468.00 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) added 2.44% or 22.00 points to end at 923.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.30% or 33.00 points to 1,467.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which lost 5.90% or 17.00 points to trade at 271.00 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 1.72% or 11.80 points to end at 676.40 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) shed 1.66% or 25.00 points to 1,480.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 938 to 771 and 737 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.43% or 37.80 to $2,677.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.75% or 0.57 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.51 to trade at $78.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.65.
