Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Chemicals and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 6.29% or 40.40 points to trade at 682.20 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.09% or 67.50 points to end at 1717.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 3.95% or 5.90 points to 155.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 4.55% or 2.78 points to trade at 58.30 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.75% or 17.20 points to end at 608.20 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) shed 2.73% or 13.40 points to 477.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1156 to 843 and 452 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.08% or 36.65 to $1795.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $80.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.15 to trade at $83.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.47% to 1.3649, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8479.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 94.180.
