Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 3.13% or 5.14 points to trade at 169.28 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.85% or 53.0 points to end at 1913.6 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.80% or 126.0 points to 4618.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 6.82% or 5.08 points to trade at 69.44 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 3.23% or 19.40 points to end at 581.40 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) shed 3.13% or 12.10 points to 373.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1132 to 1090 and 61 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 5.40 to $1952.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.25% or 1.26 to hit $37.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.91% or 1.19 to trade at $39.74 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.17% to 1.3164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.9021.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 92.267.
