Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.11% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW), which rose 4.69% or 9.10 points to trade at 203.10 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.77% or 20.20 points to end at 749.40 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 2.72% or 61.00 points to 2300.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 4.34% or 5.45 points to trade at 120.15 in late trade. NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) declined 3.50% or 102.00 points to end at 2816.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) shed 3.01% or 65.00 points to 2097.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1114 to 982 and 207 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 4.65 to $1507.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.11% or 0.62 to hit $55.13 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.58 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.2365, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8964.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 98.185.
