Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Automobiles & Parts and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 4.02% or 4.95 points to trade at 128.15 at the close. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) added 2.90% or 3.20 points to end at 113.60 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) was up 2.10% or 81.00 points to 3,943.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which lost 2.45% or 62.00 points to trade at 2,470.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.68% or 31.50 points to end at 1,849.00 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) shed 1.40% or 45.00 points to 3,172.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1014 to 694 and 761 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 8.20 to $2,542.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.30% or 0.95 to hit $72.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.78 to trade at $76.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 101.08.
