Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Transportation and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 3.41% or 78.00 points to trade at 2368.00 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 2.80% or 15.20 points to end at 557.40 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) was up 2.69% or 112.75 points to 4307.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which lost 3.13% or 80.0 points to trade at 2476.0 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 3.12% or 4.98 points to end at 154.60 and Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) shed 2.57% or 33.00 points to 1249.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1333 to 792 and 208 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 5.25 to $1468.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.67% or 0.95 to hit $57.72 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.16 to trade at $63.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2906, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8565.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 97.860.
