Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Beverage, Oil & Gas Producers and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which rose 2.83% or 15.50 points to trade at 563.00 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.21% or 2.85 points to end at 131.85 and Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) was up 1.50% or 37.50 points to 2,535.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Next PLC (LON:NXT), which lost 2.60% or 256.00 points to trade at 9,590.00 in late trade. Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP) declined 2.34% or 90.00 points to end at 3,764.00 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) shed 2.12% or 73.00 points to 3,379.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 931 to 799 and 697 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.87% or 22.96 to $2,630.94 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.82% or 0.57 to hit $70.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.53 to trade at $73.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 107.87.
