Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Software & Computer Services and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 3.67% or 33.00 points to trade at 931.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.16% or 41.00 points to end at 1339.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 3.01% or 39.00 points to 1334.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which lost 3.93% or 15.30 points to trade at 374.40 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.62% or 35.00 points to end at 1302.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 2.23% or 70.00 points to 3070.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 984 to 900 and 478 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.59% or 7.55 to $1270.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $54.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.20 to trade at $60.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.3271, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.44.
