Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 2.88% or 47.00 points to trade at 1677.50 at the close. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 1.97% or 41.00 points to end at 2118.00 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.75% or 4.10 points to 238.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.34% or 33.90 points to trade at 980.60 in late trade. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 3.13% or 38.50 points to end at 1190.50 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) shed 3.05% or 4.05 points to 128.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1219.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $69.19 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.20 to trade at $73.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2947, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8926.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 95.16.
