Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Electrical and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.09% or 470.00 points to trade at 15,695.00 at the close. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) added 2.77% or 3.00 points to end at 111.25 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 2.63% or 1.73 points to 67.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which lost 3.45% or 32.80 points to trade at 916.80 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.40% or 19.40 points to end at 552.00 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) shed 2.39% or 87.00 points to 3,548.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1111 to 922 and 439 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 5.45 to $2,027.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.04% or 0.77 to hit $73.18 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.60 to trade at $78.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 103.18.
