Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) added 3.57% or 25.00 points to end at 724.50 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 3.29% or 62.00 points to 1946.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 2.52% or 41.00 points to trade at 1583.00 in late trade. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) declined 2.43% or 180.00 points to end at 7230.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 2.07% or 18.00 points to 851.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1047 to 841 and 478 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.75 to $1258.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.17% or 0.61 to hit $52.85 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.51 to trade at $55.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.2418, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8539.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 100.90.
