Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Industrial Transportation and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 7.67% or 135.00 points to trade at 1895.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 4.39% or 385.00 points to end at 9160.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.36% or 6.8000 points to 162.7500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which lost 7.15% or 43.50 points to trade at 565.00 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 6.82% or 105.00 points to end at 1435.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) shed 6.43% or 26.700 points to 388.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1447 to 716 and 392 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.12% or 14.95 to $1353.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $48.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $50.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.3293, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8383.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.62.
