Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Aerospace & Defense and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 5.27% or 61.00 points to trade at 1218.00 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) added 2.73% or 6.400 points to end at 241.000 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 2.63% or 13.50 points to 527.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 3.99% or 29.50 points to trade at 710.50 in late trade. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) declined 2.11% or 149.00 points to end at 6926.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) shed 1.87% or 52.00 points to 2733.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1008 to 922 and 423 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.09% or 1.10 to $1224.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $53.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.32 to trade at $55.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.2456, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8482.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 101.35.
