Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Life Insurance/Assurance and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Experian Plc (LONDON:EXPN), which rose 3.14% or 37.00 points to trade at 1214.00 at the close. Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES) added 1.71% or 12.00 points to end at 713.50 and Antofagasta (LONDON:ANTO) was up 1.15% or 9.00 points to 791.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ), which lost 9.77% or 179.00 points to trade at 1654.00 in late trade. Kingfisher (LONDON:KGF) declined 3.54% or 13.10 points to end at 357.50 and Aberdeen Asset Management Plc (LONDON:ADN) shed 3.44% or 15.50 points to 434.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1921 to 697 and 449 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.84% or 9.90 to $1192.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.53% or 1.50 to hit $60.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.81% or 1.84 to trade at $67.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.68% to 1.5693, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7167.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 94.44.
