Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, General Industrial and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 2.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smiths Group PLC (L:SMIN), which rose 10.21% or 94.50 points to trade at 1020.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (L:RR) added 5.11% or 27.00 points to end at 555.00 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (L:HRGV) was up 3.81% or 55.00 points to 1498.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (L:AAL), which lost 5.07% or 23.00 points to trade at 431.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (L:EZJ) declined 4.09% or 73.000 points to end at 1710.000 and Randgold Resources Ltd (L:RRS) shed 2.46% or 99.00 points to 3929.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1546 to 570 and 437 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.49% or 16.10 to $1067.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.72% or 0.72 to hit $41.02 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.59 to trade at $43.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.5216, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.6988.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 99.81.
