Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, General Industrial and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 4.08% or 279.00 points to trade at 7109.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 3.02% or 200.00 points to end at 6815.00 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) was up 3.01% or 42.00 points to 1439.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG), which lost 2.64% or 7.600 points to trade at 280.100 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 2.42% or 12.10 points to end at 486.90 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) shed 2.19% or 15.500 points to 692.500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1032 to 881 and 433 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.83% or 10.05 to $1218.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $53.79 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $56.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.95% to 1.2540, while EUR/GBP rose 1.20% to 0.8609.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 99.57.
