Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Berkeley Group Hldgs (LON:BKGH), which rose 6.11% or 181.00 points to trade at 3144.00 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) added 1.94% or 37.00 points to end at 1945.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 1.79% or 18.00 points to 1022.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which lost 2.38% or 5.40 points to trade at 221.30 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 1.72% or 10.00 points to end at 570.50 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) shed 1.52% or 11.30 points to 730.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1087 to 797 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1228.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.76 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $51.74 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.24% to 1.2388, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 100.09.
