Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which rose 1.89% or 20.00 points to trade at 1078.00 at the close. GKN PLC (LON:GKN) added 1.83% or 6.30 points to end at 350.90 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 1.66% or 26.00 points to 1592.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which lost 4.18% or 12.00 points to trade at 274.80 in late trade. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 2.76% or 9.20 points to end at 323.80 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) shed 2.71% or 44.00 points to 1580.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 971 to 934 and 453 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.26% or 3.40 to $1280.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.26% or 0.13 to hit $50.98 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.30 to trade at $53.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.2824, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8381.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 99.54.
