Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Industrial Transportation and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES), which rose 5.39% or 40.50 points to trade at 792.50 at the close. Sage Group (LONDON:SGE) added 3.22% or 17.50 points to end at 561.50 and Royal Mail (LONDON:RMG) was up 2.80% or 13.60 points to 499.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LONDON:HIK), which lost 1.43% or 30.00 points to trade at 2071.00 in late trade. Aviva Plc (LONDON:AV) declined 1.38% or 7.50 points to end at 535.00 and easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ) shed 1.29% or 22.00 points to 1678.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1471 to 1142 and 438 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1225.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.46% or 0.28 to hit $60.26 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.56 to trade at $66.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.5668, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7237.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 94.07.
