Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the FTSE 350 - Construction & Materials, FTSE 350 - Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and FTSE 350 - Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which rose 9.31% or 34.00 points to trade at 399.00 at the close. CRH (LONDON:CRH) added 7.17% or 115.00 points to end at 1718.00 and BG Group (LONDON:BG) was up 5.33% or 47.30 points to 934.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ), which lost 6.45% or 120.00 points to trade at 1742.00 in late trade. International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) declined 2.75% or 15.00 points to end at 529.50 and Carnival (LONDON:CCL) shed 2.54% or 76.00 points to 2921.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1131 to 1006 and 346 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.21% or 2.70 to $1276.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 1.82% or 0.88 to hit $49.12 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.42% or 1.28 to trade at $54.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.5029, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.7548.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 94.75.
